Touring Korea – Korea Folk Village in Gyeonggi Province

If you followed my previous posts, you would realize that, it is all about the sights and sounds of Gyeonggi province in Korea. In the next few months, I will be providing more contents about this beautiful region as I keep touring one-day-at-a-time. As the official slogan emphasizes, Gyeonggi province is the most charming region in Korea where the past, present and future comes together.
A couple of weeks ago, #GGSupporters (honorary ambassadors of Gyeonggi province) set out on our first field trip to amazing sites in the region. We visited the PAST; the Korea Folk Village in Yongin. Wow! I was excited to visit the much talked about traditional theme park, which gives you a peak into Korea’s yesteryears.

The ambiance at the folk village reminded me of the typical village settings in my country. The architectural mud houses, greens, trees, chirping sounds of birds and the stream lulls you with some added freshness of air.

The Korean folk village is adjudged as one of the top five outdoor folk museums in the world. It is a re-enactment of a typical village of the Joseon dynasty period where one can experience ancient Korea. The village composes of recreated traditional houses and offices of various state building across the country.
It was a gay-sunny day as we began wandering the 245-acre village site. That is a gargantuan size of a land to explore in a limited time, so we explored as much as we could.

The Folk village is also a far-famed location for shooting several popular films and historical K-drama. Amongst some of them are; jewel in the Palace (2003), The King and I (2007), Dongyi (2010) and The Face Reader (2013).

Other facilities available for sightseeing are the Experience Sites (folk games, traditional crafts etc), Amusement facilities zone (play area for a thrilling experience on bounce spin, crazy raft) and the Exhibition halls (a museum that focuses on Korea’s seasonal customs).
How to get there?
From Gangnam Station, Sang-gal Station take the non-stop seated bus
From Suwon station, take Bus No. 37 or 10-5 and from Jukjeon Station (Bundang Line)
